🚀 Tuesday Triumphs: 💰 High-Income Ideas & 🌱 Humble Beginnings

Three Random but Profitable Business Ideas, Giveaway Information, a little backstory, news, and more!

Happy Tuesday Y’all,

It’s been a fairly calm week so far; nothing too crazy going on. I saw an interesting post on Reddit yesterday, though. The poster was asking, hypothetically(?), what kind of business he could start with zero skills and $50k. As you can expect from Reddit, a lot of the comments were all over the place, but this one actually gave some pretty good ideas. Personally, it amazes me how creative some people can be. To sum it up, the commenter gave three ideas:

  1. Haul/Dump Business

  2. Online 3D Printing Service

  3. Phone Repair (can confirm this one works)

Quick backstory that no one asked for, the first iPhone came out when I was in middle school and at the time parents didn’t exactly give their kids brand new $1k smartphones but I was crazy into tech and really wanted one. Fast forward a few weeks and my cousin actually gets one but dropped it and obliterated the screen. She ended up getting a new phone since phone repair stores weren’t as widespread as they are today. I asked her if I could take the phone off her hands since it was pretty much “worthless” to her, and she gave it to me. Now here’s 6th grade Derick wondering what he’s going to do with a phone that looks like it fell off the back of a car going 90 on the freeway.

It would annoy the s*** out of me that I had this crazy cutting edge piece of tech just sitting on my table that I couldn’t even use. But after a few days of research, I discovered that fixing these things is possible. Unfortunately parts were expensive, but I remembered that my mom had an old blackberry sitting around that had a broken track ball (throw back) that I was able to replace since those parts (fortunately) were extremely cheap. And so began my journey. After I fixed it, I flipped it to some kid in my school and pretty much grew the “business” until one day my teacher caught me with eight broken phones in my backpack and well, it was interesting to explain what was going on. I eventually moved on to specialize in mostly Apple products and kept it going until high school, where at some point I let it go because I got “distracted” focusing on classes.

Since then I've encountered several self-employed phone repair technicians and resellers, I've noticed a unique characteristic that sets them apart. There's something about phone resellers that exudes a level of hustle and grit, which most people simply don't have(or know they have).

it took me forever to find, but here’s a picture of the actual phone that got everything started.

Anyways, check the original reddit post out here. And don’t forget about our weekly challenge! I’ll see you all back here again tomorrow!

Regards,

Derick, The Founder’s Frontier

Weekly Challenge Accountability

Here's the challenge: Each day, take a few minutes to write down three things you're grateful for. It doesn’t matter if you write it on a sticky note, the back of an old receipt, your phone, etc. just write it somewhere. It could be/ as simple as a delicious meal, the beauty of nature, or the company of loved ones. The goal is to shift our focus towards the positive aspects of our lives and help us appreciate what we have.

My Results:

  1. Was driving to the gym this morning and it was raining, it doesn’t rain here often but it’s nice every once in awhile.

  2. Was in a rush today to get to work afterwards but I had a leftover piece of salmon in the fridge from yesterday and I don’t know why but it still tasted delicious being reheated in the airfryer.

  3. At some point in the afternoon I made a freakin delicious cup of coffee using the cafetera.
